Calcium propanoate is used as a preservative in a wide variety of products, including but not limited to bread, other baked goods,processed meat, whey, and other dairy products. In agriculture, it is used, amongst other things, to prevent milk fever in cows and as a feed supplement Propanoates prevent microbes from producing the energy they need, like benzoates do.

1. Calcium propionate can be used as an antifungal agent for food and feed, and as a preservative for bread and pastries.

2.Starch, protein and oil containing substances have unique anti mold and anti-corrosion properties. 
3. Calcium propionate as a feed additive can effectively inhibit feed mold and extend the shelf life of feed. 
4. Calcium propionate can also be used as an additive in toothpaste and cosmetics, playing a good anti-corrosion role.
